For centuries, the name Jesus has meant so many different things to different people. Some people say that he was a great teacher, others say that he was a god, or was even God himself. Others doubt that there was ever a historical Jesus of Nazereth, or that if there was we don’t have any way of knowing who he really was. But what do you say?
This fall during Refuge we will be exploring this question of Who is Jesus? There are a lot of different ways to examine this question and a lot of different sources that we might turn to. For this study we will examine how the Bible answers this question by looking at different names and characteristics of Jesus.
Some of the names and characteristics we will look at are:
- Son of Man
- Son of God
- The Messiah or Christ
- The Word
- The Last Adam
- The Lamb of God
- Lord
As we study we will need to ask, does it even matter? If the Bible claims that Jesus is these things then what bearing does that have on me and my life? Is knowing who Jesus is important? We will be learning what the Bible says but also giving practical application to that knowledge.
If you have never heard of Jesus before, this is a perfect introduction.
If you have ever wanted to know more of what the Bible says about Jesus then we will go into sufficient detail for you to go deeper.
If you know Jesus well then this will be a great reminder of the biblical record and will help strengthen and grow you in your faith.
Regardless of your knowledge level, this study will be beneficial to you. We hope that you will join us this fall semester as we answer the question: Who is Jesus?
